Anse Deena Alzalam serves as a Quran instructor at Ribaat Academic Institute. She studied law and psychology while at university in the United Kingdom, and then traveled to Damascus, Syria with her young family to learn to read the Quran and the Arabic language. While there, she earned an ijāza with certification from the Ministry of Religious Education.
Of Palestinian and Irish heritage, Anse Deena was raised in the United Kingdom. After receiving her ijāza in Damascus, Anse Deena returned to the UK, where she began to teach children and adults both in a local masjid and at home. Eventually, she traveled to Saudi Arabia where she completed her ijāza in the recitation of the Quran.
Anse Deena currently resides in Istanbul with her family. She is passionate about home education, nature studies, spending time with her family, walking, and traveling. In the future, she aspires to complete a nature curriculum that combines nature studies with traditional subjects covered from an Islamic framework to provide a holistic approach to learning.
She began teaching with Ribaat in September 2023.
